Your life is as good as your mindset

Depression doesn’t want you to get better.

It wants to control you completely, and basically kill who you are or once were.

When left untreated, depression can ruin your life.

Clinical depression increases the risk of substance abuse, destroys relationships, interferes with your ability to excel at work, and makes you more vulnerable to certain medical conditions.

For example, people with depression are more likely to develop heart disease and are more likely to die following a heart attack than people without the condition. Even more troubling is the fact that depression is the cause of two-thirds of suicides (Amen Clinic).

Mix depression with anxiety, and you have one hellish combination. Untreated anxiety can steal your life and increase the risk of concentration problems, depression, panic disorder, physical ailments, and sleep problems.

Many types of depression/anxiety exist. They do not show themselves in the same way for everyone.

One may not even realize they are experiencing depression/anxiety (I sure didn’t). They just slowly fall into the black hole of misery and do not even think something might be off.

So how does one get out of this hole, this…hell?

You’ve got to have the mindset to get well.

Realize that life is not supposed to feel like the walking dead. This all didn’t happen overnight, so don’t expect to feel better overnight.

It takes time. One must be dedicated and truly want to fight for optimal health.

Start small. Tell yourself that you’ve got this, ask for help (you are not bothering anyone), and get your mindset right. Exercise, eat healthy, get enough sleep, challenge negative thoughts.

Again, baby steps. People say, “Take it one day at a time.” It might take one second at a time.

Support systems are awesome, but YOU make the choice to get well and back to feeling.

Depression doesn’t want you to get better.

Don’t allow it to get the best of you.

Change your mindset, change your life.
